A shoulder injury can occur from many different type of situations involving negligence including car accidents and slip and fall accidents. Regardless of how the shoulder injury occurred there are often common signs of a shoulder injury that you should watch for if you were recently injured. If you do recognize any of the issues below it is important to notify your doctor immediately so you can get the proper orthopedic care:

  • Do you have a stiff shoulder?
  • Can you rotate your arm in all of the normal positions?
  • Do you not have enough strength in your shoulder to carry out your normal everyday activities?
  • Does your shoulder feel like it is popping out of the socket or like it can slide out of the socket?

Shoulder injuries can be determined multiple ways such as an x-ray or an MRI. In most cases this will allow the doctor treating you to understand where the injury is and what exactly is wrong with it. If for some reason the results come back negative and you are still experiencing shoulder discomfort or shoulder pain be sure to let your doctor know you would like the injury to be looked into further.

The most important thing you can do to prevent shoulder injuries is to warn up properly and strengthen the rotator cuff muscles.
