Posted on Jun 13, 2013
On Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at around 12:45 p.m, a livery car jumped a curb and hit a Dunkin Donuts in the South Bronx, injuring a teen and a baby.
A mother pushing her baby in a stroller narrowly escaped being hit by the out of control livery cab, police said. The 17 year old mother grabbed her baby from the stroller moments after it was struck by the cab. The impact of the crash crushed the stroller.
The livery cab, a 2005 Lincoln town car, was traveling south on Prospect Avenue in Longwood when the 68 year old driver passed out behind the wheel. The cab hit another car stopped at a red light at Westchester Avenue and an empty parked before it went up on the sidewalk, police said.
The 68 year old driver who was behind the wheel, has died. The 8 month old baby and a 17 year old mother were taken to Lincoln Hospital and were treated for minor scrapes and bruises. Police say they are expected to recover.
