Elizabeth Auto Accident Leaves Several Injured

An Elizabeth auto accident involving a New Jersey Transit bus leaves several people injured when the bus collides with two other vehicles on the New Jersey Turnpike. The incident took place at approximately 4:45 PM on Friday afternoon, February 19, 2010.
According to Turnpike Authority spokesperson Joseph Orlando, the three vehicle accident occurred in the outer southbound lanes near Exit 13A. The three vehicles included a New Jersey Transit bus, a truck and a car. Details concerning the accident were not made available.
The force of the impact caused the windshield of the bus to explode inflicting moderate injuries to the bus driver. Several other passengers on the bus were reported as suffering injuries; however, none of them appeared to be life-threatening. Details concerning other injuries were not made available.
Rescue crews were required to remove passengers through windows since the doors were not operational due to the damage the bus sustained in the accident.
The three-vehicle Elizabeth bus accident is still under investigation by local authorities. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
