Ronkonkoma Auto Accident Kills Teen

A Ronkonkoma auto accident involving two vehicles leaves one teenager dead and another critically injured. The incident took place at approximately 11:30 PM on Saturday evening, April 10, 2010, at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Veteran’s Memorial Highway.
According to Suffolk County police, the driver of a Dodge pickup truck was traveling westbound when he slammed into a BMW which was southbound on Ocean Avenue. The driver of the Dodge has been identified as David Heise, 28, of Selden.
Rescue crews transported the driver of the BMW, Eugene Franjola, 17, of Oakdale, to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the wreck.
Stephen Massina, 16, of Sayville, was a passenger in the BMW and was taken by air to Stony Brook University Medical Center. Massina has been listed in critical condition.
Police have indicated that Heise may have been driving with a revoked driver’s license. He has been charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
The fatal Ronkonkoma car accident is still under investigation by Fifth Squad detectives. Anyone with information pertaining to the accident has been asked to contact authorities at (631) 854-8552.
