A Staten Island accident involving a car and a motorcycle leaves two men with serious injuries after the vehicles collide on the Martin Luther King Jr. Expressway. The incident took place at approximately 1:00 PM on Saturday afternoon, April 24, 2010.
According to authorities, a four-door blue Dodge Neon, traveling southbound, lost control and struck the right guardrail. The force of the impact sent the sedan back across the road and into the left guardrail causing the Dodge to flip over. That is when a motorcyclist riding a Harley Davidson, unable to stop, slammed into the car between exits 12 and 10E.
“It was just horrific,” said Jose Rodriguez, who witnessed the incident.
Rescue crews transported two male victims to the hospital where they were treated for serious injuries. The extent of their injuries as well as their identities were not immediately made known.
The Staten Island motorcycle accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police have yet to determine the reason why the driver of the Dodge lost control of his vehicle and hit the guardrail.
