Staten Island Railway Train Derails at St. George Terminal
Posted on Aug 07, 2014
A Staten Island Railway train with around 90 people on board derailed Thursday afternoon at around 1:48 p.m., as it approached the St. George Ferry Terminal.
Eight commuters were in the rear car when it came off the tracks, luckily no one has been reported as injured.
The MTA has suspended train service between St. George and Jefferson Avenue as a result. The agency plans to restore service into and out of St. George on a single track in time for the evening rush hour. After rush hour, MTA workers will try to "get the train re-railed."
The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
