Woman Hit By Car in Lysander
Posted on Jul 15, 2009
On Monday morning, a pickup truck hit a Lysander woman who had been lying in the road on Route 48. Investigators still do not know why she was lying there when the truck hit and killed her.
At approximately 2:40 AM Monday, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call to Route 48, just north of Kellogg Road. When the deputies arrived to the accident scene, they discovered 31-year-old Melissa Larose, a Lysander resident, dead in the road.
LaRose was hit and killed by a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by 34-year-old Robert Malone, Jr. of Oswego. Malone was returning home from work with two co-workers, when he noticed Larose lying across the road. However, it was too late for him to avoid hitting her. After he hit Larose, Malone immediately stopped his truck and called 911.
Malone will not be charged or ticketed for the fatal New York pedestrian accident, according to Sheriff’s Deputies.
An investigation into the accident is being conducted.
